We are seeking a skilled and certified Pipe Welder to join our team for the construction of a state-of-the-art AI data center in Austin, TX. This critical role involves the installation, fitting, and maintenance of various piping systems essential for the data center’s advanced liquid cooling infrastructure and other utilities. The ideal candidate will be proficient in high-purity welding techniques, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding the highest safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and isometric drawings to determine layouts and specifications for piping systems.
  • Plan, prepare, install, and maintain piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials, including carbon steel and stainless steel, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
  • Clean, prepare, and align pipes for welding using an array of tools and equipment, such as grinders, cutting torches, and alignment clamps.
  • Weld pipes using various techniques, including TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding processes, in all positions (1G, 2G, 5G, 6G preferred).
  • Perform high-purity welding, utilizing techniques like inert gas purging (e.g., argon) to prevent contamination and ensure “clean” welds for critical systems.
  • Inspect and test welded joints (e.g., hydrostatic tests) to ensure they meet quality standards and project specifications, collaborating with the QA/QC department as needed.
  • Install pipe supports, hangers, and brackets to secure piping systems to structures.
  • Operate heavy machinery, such as forklifts, cranes, and hoists, to move and position materials and workpieces safely.
  • Strictly adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines, including OSHA safety standards and site-specific protocols.
  • Maintain all welding equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine maintenance checks.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Pipe Welder, preferably in commercial or industrial construction settings (data center or semiconductor experience is a plus).
  • Proficiency in multiple welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW) with a strong emphasis on TIG welding for stainless steel.
  • Ability to pass comprehensive, hands-on welding performance tests in various positions (6G certification is highly valued).
  • Familiarity with relevant piping codes and standards, such as ASME Section IX or AWS D1.1/D1.3.
  • Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude, with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Current OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification is often required by employers.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a larger construction team.
Benefits
